H.E. Dr. Sok Siphana Joins the Asia Economic Forum (AEF) Advisory Board

22 July 2011 (Phnom Penh) – On behalf of the Asia Economic Forum, we are pleased to announce that H.E. Dr. Sok Siphana has graciously accepted an appointment to join the Board of Advisors of the Asia Economic Forum.

It is with great honor that we extend to H.E. Dr. Sok Siphana an official invitation to join this prestigious appointment. As a Member of the Board of Advisors, H.E. Dr. Sok Siphana will be asked to provide critical input and feedback regarding the growth and development of the AEF, in the short- and long-term horizon. He will also participate in high-level meetings to discuss critical issues related to the AEF.

H.E. Dr. Sok Siphana currently serves as the Chair of Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI) Board of Directors and Advisor to the Royal Government of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia.

H.E. Dr. Sok Siphana has been a successful Advisor and Minister, and is recognized as having been an integral part of Cambodia's economic recovery. Before becoming Minister, Dr. Siphana worked as a legal adviser at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). After this post, he moved on to become the Vice Minister of Commerce in Cambodia where he helped lead the country's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Following Cambodia's joining of the WTO, Dr. Siphana went on to work as the Director of Technical Cooperation at the International Trade Centre. Today, Dr. Siphana Chairs the Cambodia Development Resource Institute and is an acting Advisor to the Royal Government of Cambodia. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Widener University School of Law and a Ph.D. in law from the Bond University School of Law.

The AEF is an independent think tank. It was established by UC in May 2005, as a forum for promoting policy dialogue on major issues facing Asia. The overall goal is to bring together prominent policymakers, scholars, researchers, members of the public and private sectors, representatives of international institutions, and civil society. Together, these experts engage in high-level discussions regarding policy issues that impact Asia's present and future growth and development.

H.E. Dr. Sok Siphana joins a long list of accomplished AEF Board of Advisors. We are more than delighted to have him on board.
